OF BANKING AND FINANCE
The
University of Frankfurt
[www.finance.uni-frankfurt.de]
accommodates the largest finance department amongst all German universities. Its
full-time faculty currently encompasses 13 full-time professors and assistant professors.
In close cooperation with the Center for Financial Studies
[www.ifk-cfs.de]
, the department is committed to world-class research and education in the fields
of financial markets, financial intermediaries and corporate finance. The Department
of Finance looks back on a long and exceptional tradition. The adoption of modern
finance theory into German business theory around 1970 took place almost exclusively
via Frankfurt economists - a step that constituted a major milestone towards modernizing
German business theory in general.
Prof. Dr. Mark Wahrenburg
holds the Chair of Banking and Finance. Research and teaching of his chair centers
around the functioning and management of financial intermediaries, encompassing
such different institutions as commercial banks, investment banks, stock exchanges,

exceptional interdisciplinary approach, with a strong focus on application-oriented
and scientifically backed research at the interface of science and practice, is
the differentiation between the TUM Business School and other business schools.
